Scope and Contents

An 1808-1809 journal with descriptions of travels in Ireland and Scotland and of Campbell's voyage to America. Specific mention is made of weather conditions, fish, birds, food rations, and quarantine of the ship on its arrival at New York City. Collection contains notes for and a list of sermons preached (1810-1814) by Campbell in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.

Overview

This bound notebook includes notes taken by Wheeling resident Archibald W. Paull during lectures at Washington College, Washington, Pennsylvania. Paull attended the college from 1861 to 1865 after graduating from Wheeling's Linsly Institute. He became president of Nail City Stamping Co. and engaged in the manufacture of glass products. He was the son of Ohio County judge and West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals justice James W. Paull.
